A Day of Engineering Insights: Visit to Koradi Temple and Navegaon Khairi Dam

Technical Site Visit: Koradi Temple Premises & Navegaon Khairi Dam – A Day of Learning and Insight

Site Visit :- 01 Feb 2025

Today, we had the privilege of witnessing some remarkable civil engineering marvels during our technical site visit to the Koradi Temple premises and Navegaon Khairi Dam & Aqueduct. The visit was not just an opportunity to explore structures but also a chance to learn firsthand about structural innovations and engineering excellence.

Koradi Temple Visit Highlights

At the Koradi Temple, we observed the construction of a 151ft tall Lord Hanuman statue, crafted in reinforced cement concrete (RCC). This impressive structure stands surrounded by an artificial lake, enhancing its visual and structural appeal. Another highlight was the eight-story high selfie structure, skillfully designed using tubes and covered plates, showcasing exceptional structural innovation and execution.

Navegaon Khairi Site Exploration

At Navegaon Khairi, our exploration continued with a visit to the feeder canal structures, which included a massive gate, an aqueduct, and an overlying driveway. These components demonstrated the scale and functionality of modern-day water resource management structures.

We extend our sincere gratitude to our Past Chairman and Governing Council Member, Dr. H. D. Chandewar Sir, for providing valuable insights into the engineering and functionality of these structures.

A special thanks to Chairman Er. P. P. Deshpande Sir, Er. Bhagwat Patil, Er. Shailendra Karale, and Er. Ravi Nagpure for meticulously planning and organizing this visit. The experience was technically enriching and was complemented with delicious breakfast and lunch.

We truly appreciate the participation of all members and missed those who couldn’t join us. We look forward to more such enlightening and engaging technical visits in the future.

Student Participation and Industry Collaboration

Here are some glimpses of today’s (01 Feb 2025) site visit!

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Hitendra Chandewar Sir, of Hitbhav Engineers and Governing Council Member, ICI HQ, for facilitating today’s insightful industrial site visit. Thank you, Sir, for your invaluable guidance and unwavering support.

Dr. Ashwini Tenpe, Chapter In-Charge, along with 46 students from G.H. Raisoni College of Engineering & Management, actively participated in this visit to the Koradi site, which included exploration of the dam, steel structure, and the Hanumanji statue construction site.

Dr. Hitendra Chandewar Sir offered a detailed explanation of the working mechanisms, engineering significance, and civil engineering aspects of the projects, giving students a deep insight into real-world applications of their academic knowledge.
